3.5 Months Left Till Departure!

We realized the other day that we only have 3.5 months left here in California. It’s a little surreal, thinking that after 6 years of waiting and training, we are finally about to move overseas! Though it’s been many years, we still have the same yearning desire to take the gospel to an unreached people group. The need for missionaries to go to the unreached is still real; there are 250 unreached people groups in Asia-Pacific alone, and without the message of who God is and what Christ has done there is no hope for them. Realizing how little time we have left, we have started to purchase items off of our Shopping List and trying to get the most out of relationships with friends, family, and our church.

In an attempt to get some last-minute medical training; we sent Lauren away to attend a Midwifery Assistant Workshop. She learned so much and is now a certified Traditional Birth Assistant!

We’ve also started taking a Village Medical course that will help equip us to properly react to the many medical challenges we will face in an jungle setting.

Please pray with us as we continue to pursue further training for Lauren’s midwifery and for the two of us as a team.

Mark has been working hard to hone some videography skills in order to keep our partners better-updated while overseas. He uploads new videos weekly/bi-weekly. Please subscribe to his new YouTube channel, Directed Steps, to see what we’ve been up to lately (and for cute videos of Leo).

Leo is loving living with Grandma and Grandpa and talks non-stop all day. He loves to play with his dinosaurs, plane, and cars. He loves swimming and asks to go everyday! He is also officially potty-trained! Yay! This means we don’t have to purchase diapers when we are in Asia-Pacific, woohoo!

Thank you all for all of encouragement and continued prayers for us! We are thankful to have such a wonderful team to support and send us!

The road ahead is very daunting and we’re so thankful for your prayers and support. Please continue to faithfully walk alongside us in this endeavor!

  1. I loved reading this post. Leo is so good-looking now and making good progress.
I’m so glad you were able to do the midwifery assistant course. That is such a need in remote tribal areas. Great that you are doing the village medical course. That will give you an avenue to reach out and show you care if there is no medical aid post in the village as well as take care of yourselves in a village situation. Remembering how you were taught in this course should be helpful I would think in training some of the tribal folk to do medical work among their people.
    God bless you,

    • Thanks, Lynette, for your encouraging comment. I’m so glad that God has given us these opportunities to learn more! We are hoping God will be able to use us and our medical training to somehow bring Him glory! We don’t know how He’ll use it, or if He ever will, but we have so enjoyed the medical courses so far. 🙂

  2. Can’t believe only 3 1/2mo until you leave! Thanks for including your list of items needed. 🙂 Hope we can manage one game night before you leave!

    • Hey Grandma and Grandpa,
Leo is doing really well. He is enjoying living with my parents and getting to know the kids his age at church. He also is really enjoying swimming, playing with dinos and cars, and riding his tricycle. We miss you guys! Do y’all have Skype?
