60 Groups Waiting

We are often asked, “Do you know what people group you will be working with?” We can’t really make any decisions until we are living in Asia-Pacific for a little while. When we are there we will be visiting different regions of Asia-Pacific, meeting with leadership, churches, and missionaries and seeing and hearing about the Gospel need there. Joshua Project says there are 220 unreached people groups in Asia-Pacific. It’s hard to choose only one, when you know they all need the Gospel!

Mark and I have both been reading about the different regions that NTM works in, and the current missionary personnel needs. There are 4 regions we could choose to serve in. Within these 4 regions there is currently a list of 60 people groups waiting for teams of missionaries. Waiting! These people groups range from populations of 1,000 to 120,000 people! They need people to come translate the Bible into their language, teach literacy so they can read their Bible, disciple and teach them so they can have a better understanding of the Bible, develop Bible and educational curriculum, help with their medical and community needs, and so much more!

Paul asks us in Romans 10:14-15,

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?”

The more we learn about Asia-Pacific, the more need we see for people to take the Gospel into these places. Would you pray and ask the Lord if He would have you join us as co-workers in this country? Would you pray and ask the Lord if would place a burden for these people in the hearts of your children or grandchildren? What about your youth group or congregation?

“Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ ” Matthew 28:18-20
