How many times have you heard a angry person say that? I know I’ve heard it many times directed at the Christian community.
What is the typical response to that? Often it leads to some heated response of how smart Christianity is or how it’s the only thing that makes sense. Maybe even the ever popular “if I’m right and you’re wrong” statement.
Why do we get so defensive when we hear people say that? Have you ever wondered if there was any truth to this statement? I would say that this is the most ridiculous statement I’ve ever heard. Simply put, Christianity is more like a hospital than a crutch.
What keeps you walking? What was in you that made you so strong as to not need saving? Seems I remember God saying something like, “For while we were yet sinners (helpless) Christ died for the ungodly.” What Christ did on the cross for all those who are His, what Christ is still doing daily in them, and what He will do in the future… What of that was your doing? To all my brothers and sisters through Christ I say: Christ is more like a full blown robotic suit that keeps us moving than a crutch. You have done nothing, can do nothing, and never will do anything that will ever lead you to deserve what Christ did on your behalf. Please think on this the next time you find yourself arguing with someone who accuses you of being weak. Remember always, we are weak and prone to wander.
That’s it, that’s all I’ve got.
Just some thoughts from a sanctified sinner,
