Wow! These past few weeks have been crazy! I, Mark, have been working at least 40 hours a week at Chapman’s Ice Cream, which is normal, but what isn’t normal are the hours and jobs! I’ve had 8pm-8am, 3pm-11pm, 7pm-3am, 8am-4pm and every other shift imaginable. I have also been moved from one job to the next almost every week so I am never able to get comfortable with any job or crew. I’d be lying if I told you that I’ve been having a good attitude throughout this time but I know the Lord can and is using this to grow me, not to mention the huge financial blessing it has been.
As many of you know, Lauren arrived in Canada on the 12th of July and has been busy working on different projects at home and around the campus. She’s gotten to know several of the men in charge of maintenance and has started helping them out with priming and painting the nursery and office. She has also enjoyed hanging out with girls in the youth group at our church.
We’ve already met several other families with whom we will be taking classes with, as well as those who are already a year into the training.
I must say that helping out with the youth group here (at Durham Baptist) has been a highlight of our summer and I’m so excited to start teaching them once training begins. We will be working chronological through the Bible and hopefully imparting some really good Biblical truths to them. They are a great group of young adults and it’s only taken us a few visits to feel completely comfortable with them.
We can’t tell you how excited we are for our training to begin on August 29th. Less than 27 days! We are so thankful for our church family back in Grandview for allowing us this opportunity to train in this career and eventually serve the Lord full-time.
Thank you everyone for your love, prayers, and support, we couldn’t be here without you. We love and pray for you all as often as we think of you.
Till every tribe has been reached,
Mark & Lauren
P.S. We’d love to hear from you! Let us know how you are doing or what you’ve been up to lately!
