Go Tell It On the Mountain

Merry Christmas!

“…but [Christ] emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:7-11).

For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham. Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people (Hebrews 2:16-17). “

” ‘Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’ “
(John 1:29)

For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him” (John 3:17).

If Christ wasn’t born then who would be perfect enough to die for the sin of all men? If Christ wasn’t born, who would raise us up after we died? If Christ wasn’t born then how could we, as humans, even be like Him? How could we have a relationship with God?

Christ was born so that He could die in order to bring peace between God and man.

Christ was born so that God could be glorified in receiving praise and worship from His creation.

Though we know the importance of Christ’s birth, there are millions of people on this earth that have not even heard of the name of Jesus. They have no idea that the Messiah has come! They still live in sin and darkness, without hope or peace. Of the world’s 6,500 people groups, there are over 2,500 people groups in the world that do not have the Word of God in their language, they have no way to find out about Christ!

They need to know why He came!

Will you tell them?
Will you pray for them?

So this Christmas, as you celebrate the birth of our Savior, please pray that His gospel will be proclaimed throughout the world! His salvation is truly the greatest gift anyone could receive!

Song of the Day:

Go Tell It On the Mountain
written in 1907 by John W. Work

Go, tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain,
That Jesus Christ is born.

While shepherds kept their watching
Over silent flocks by night
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light.

The shepherds feared and trembled,
When lo! above the earth,
Rang out the angels chorus
That hailed the Savior’s birth.

Down in a lowly manger
The humble Christ was born
And God sent us salvation
That blessèd Christmas morn.
