The Roof is Done!
We started working on the roof the week after we arrived in Texas. We were delayed by both the brutal heat and thunderstorms several times, but now we are finished!
First we dug off the dirt and removed the insulation.
After a thorough sweeping (and on the hotter days) we would tar the roof, lay tar paper, and then place insulation back on top.
We worked in sections, because the cool mornings didn’t last long.
Grandpa would use his tractor to bring dirt up to the roof, and then we would pile dirt on top of the insulation.
View from the other side of the roof.
Now we have a very muddy roof, and a unique accomplishment under our belts. haha. I guess not many people can say that they buried a roof in dirt.
