Lightning Storm & Grandview Cemetery

Last night the power went off at the church around 7pm. On our way home we saw the most magnificent lightning storm I have seen in a long time. It reminded me of the lightning scene in “War of the Worlds”. When we reached the house, it had died down a lot, but here’s what I was able to catch on tape:

Our family went on a trip to the Grandview Cemetery to see the “The Mystery Grave”.

While we were there we also had an ancestry lesson….

My great-grandparents, Clarence & Francis Priest

My other great-grandparents, Charlie & Mattie Beth Pipes

My great-great-grandparents, Clarence & Eula Priest

My great-great-grandparents, Buford & Eda Jane Pipes

And here are three interesting tombstones we saw:

It says, “John Whitmore, 1793 – 1873, exclaimed ‘What a grand view!’ and named Grandview”

Tomorrow we have orientation at Maypearl ISD. Hopefully someone will need a substitute teacher, maybe on Tuesday.
